Medieval food depended on how much money you had, your abilities to catch food, and society rank. Every social class ate food just in a different way. For example only the royalty and nobility got to use silverware. The breakfast would be served between six o'clock and seven o'clock. Lunch would be served between 12 o'clock and two o'clock. Finally supper would be served between six o'clock and seven o'clock. Three meals a day was the regular but if you were a king or a noble you might be able to get a couple snacks in a day. As for peasants and the lower class people you might only get two meals a possible three but no snacks because of their work. The nobles and kings usually had a wide variety of what they were going to have for their meals. A couple examples are fresh fruit, vegetables, different kinds of cheeses, beef, pork, fish from the river, crab, and spices to put on their food or to just eat it plain. Spices were used to taste up the food and to preserve the food or to make it last longer. Also the wealthy put wheat in their bread to give it flavor and make it taste good. Life was not as good for the peasants who ate just bread and pottage, a type of soup. They also drank ale and water. All classes ate meats from different animals that the killed during the day.
